Eighteen people suspected of being involved in this drug trafficking in the Cetraro region, linked to the Muto mafia clan, were arrested in connection with this operation.

The Muto clan is one of the many families forming part of the 'Ndrangheta, the formidable Calabrian mafia, considered one of the most powerful in the world and whose main activity is drug trafficking.

 ," Colonel Piero Sutera, commander of the Cosenza rifles in Calabria, told reporters on Wednesday.

The dismantled criminal group was also involved in extortion from entrepreneurs operating in the tourism sector.
