With the participation of 100 women interested in traditional handicrafts, the People of the Levant Initiative today established its annual bazaar, “Mother Betlem”, in the Four Seasons Hotel, which will continue until the 13th of this month.
Handicrafts for soap products, candles, embroideries, accessories, clothes, decorations, and wood, inspired by the Damascene heritage, were displayed in the bazaar held on the occasion of Mother's Day, which were produced by a number of craftsmen and women benefiting from women's empowerment courses in a number of charities.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Maysa Raslan, stated in a statement to SANA that the bazaar is organized for the third year in a row with the aim of encouraging women who are productive, introducing and marketing their distinguished handicrafts, noting that its proceeds go to the foundation’s fund to implement charitable projects for the 56 affiliated associations.

Preserving grace within the bazaar, as Abeer Al-Olabi, head of the association’s board of directors, considered that this is a window for them to introduce productive projects to women who provide for their families.
The director of the company organizing the bazaar, Nancy Ajlani, pointed out that the bazaar was organized on a voluntary basis, as a contribution from them with the support of NGOs and owners of small and micro manual projects.
As for Taghreed Abdeen, who comes from Lattakia, she is participating for the first time in the bazaar with her craft “Making Makarem,” which she produces with 8 young women.
