The Ministry of Culture and the United Nations Population Fund this evening celebrated the Syrian woman and her achievements through the celebration of "my soul, my culture and me," which coincides with International Women's Day and Mother's Day.

The celebration, which was held at the Opera Theater in Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts, included a singing evening of music, which was performed by the Syrian Women's Oriental Takht band, led by the musician Dima Mawazini, during which pieces of the Syrian heritage were played.

The group, which includes female academic musicians, Razan Kassab Violin, Heba Oudeh, Oud, Layla Al-Saleh, double bass, Khasab Khaled Raq, Mervat Rafeh Daf, pieces from Sama'i Biyat and Lunga Hijaz, a traditional link from Maqam al-Hijaz and Bayat, a piece of Zina and songs performed by the young singer Sarah Darwish and Ahlam Deeb, including Yafjr when Talao, Ghanili Shwi. The evening also included the presentation of a set of documentary videos telling the story of Syrian women who had challenged their circumstances and took the initiative to create a space for them in society, in addition to a photo exhibition that was dominated by black and white colors.

In her speech, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Labana Mashouh, affirmed that the celebration of the mother and the woman carries a symbol of appreciation of the female and her role in building mankind, society and human civilization and establishing the values ​​of tolerance, love and peace, indicating that Syria is a pioneering country in the issue of equality between the sexes in the issue of education, work, rights and duties, as it was the first Arab country. He granted her the right to vote in 1949, in addition to her primacy in highlighting the role of women, respecting her capabilities, and benefiting from her experiences, which made her assume a prominent position at all levels.

Dr. Mashouh said, “Our ambition is great, and we have the right to aspire and our duty to strive for the best and for women on the ground of reality and in daily and daily life practices to obtain the rights they deserve and to perform their sacred duties in preserving their family, their moral and ethical cohesion, and their contribution to the upbringing of generations that believe in the sanctity of the homeland. And preserving it and warding off risks, and this is what relies on building it in educational and cultural work.

For his part, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund - Syria, Dr. Iyad Nasr, indicated that throughout the crisis in Syria and in light of the Corona pandemic, the Syrian women advanced the ranks and maintained the sustainability of the health, social and educational systems and courageously assumed more responsibilities in caring for patients, children not enrolled in school, the elderly and their family members And people with disabilities, it also assisted and provided support to survivors of violence.

Nasr expressed the Fund's pride in being a witness to the heroic role that Syrian women have played and are playing in the health field and during the crisis, as the Fund sheds light on the achievement, strength and ability to challenge and resilience for Syrian women who decided not to

They surrender to their circumstances, affirming the Fund's commitment to work with partners in the government, the private sector, the civil society and the academic community to promote, protect and protect women's rights, which contributes to building societies in which women enjoy pioneering roles at all levels and achieve sustainable and equitable development of society.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Dr. Mahdi Dakhlallah, a member of the Central Command of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, assistants of the Ministers of Culture, Education and Information, diplomatic bodies, and a crowd of media professionals and civil society workers.
