Now it is certain: The folk festival will be postponed to autumn.
Due to the corona pandemic, a big festival at the end of April is utopian.
A new attempt will be made from October 22nd to 31st.
Fürstenfeldbruck - The folk festival was planned from April 23 to May 2.
Mayor Erich Raff had wanted to wait for the conference of the prime ministers.
However, according to current regulations, there was no getting around the postponement, as the town hall chief confirmed when asked by the daily newspaper.
"We hope that we can offer something in autumn," says Andreas Habersetzer, who is responsible for markets and festivals at the city.
Here one is planning a folk festival, as it was common before Corona - with a hygiene concept.
Nevertheless, he expects restrictions.
As part of the autumn folk festival, the Leonhardifahrt will take place on October 30th and the autumn market on October 31st.
Spring market canceled
The spring market on April 25th has also been canceled.
The next bigger festival in the city area would be the wine festival of the home guild on Whitsun.
Here Raff is still confident that he can do it.
“And then we are also planning the old town festival.” But ultimately the development of the pandemic will show what is possible.
The fairground should not remain completely empty.
Raff expects that host Jochen Mörz will again offer a folk festival to go like last year.
From mid-May there will also be fish on a stick, adds Habersetzer.
The Geschwister-Scholl-Platz is occupied by individual showmen all year round.
Baumstriezel, roasted almonds and other things are sold there.
"There are always people coming every week," says Habersetzer.
Next up tomorrow, Thursday, is a street food trailer with Japanese food.
