In his first public comments on the interview given by his brother Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Prince William said that the royal family "was not a racist family."
When asked by a reporter if he had spoken to his brother since the explosive interview with Oprah, Prince William said, "I haven't talked to him yet, but I will."
When asked if the royal family was a 'racist family', the Duke of Cambridge said that 'we are not a racist family'.
Prince William's comments add to the royal family's first reaction after the interview.
The British royal family says it is "saddened" to learn how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan, calling the accusations of racism "troubling," it said in a statement Tuesday.
"The entire family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan," the statement read.

Over the course of the two-hour special, Meghan and Harry - who despite his severance from royal duties is still five relatives from the throne - painted a picture of a family so stubbornly rooted in its customs that it left behind a young woman Biracial couple alone to defend themselves against racist abuse and their own problematic mental health, forcing them to be silent and ultimately leaving them with no choice but to flee the clutches of the palace.
