Regional in Hauts-de-France: the left ready to unite behind the ecologist Karima Delli

After months of negotiations, an agreement seems imminent between the Socialists, the Communists, the Greens and the Insubordinates for the elections next June.

The end of a long suspense?

After months of negotiations, EELV MEP Karima Delli is on track to win the head of a left-to-regional union list in Hauts-de-France next June.

"We are very close to the agreement, we have accepted the idea of not being head of the list"

, confirmed Olivier Faure, this Thursday morning on BFMTV.

The first secretary of the Socialist Party assured that this list would represent

"all the left"

, with

"the rebels, the Communists, the Greens",

and that it could be embodied

"by an environmentalist, Karima Delli"

.

Guest Wednesday of the "Talk"

Le Figaro

, Patrick Kanner, the president of the PS group in the Senate, had already announced the color.

"The agreement is not yet finalized but it should be in the week"

, he assured, confirming that Karima Delli held "

a little the cord"

.

"To challenge the right and the RN in this region, the left must be united,"

also wanted to remind the elected representative of the North, who was also in the running for a candidacy.

"We will be able to measure the peas of this type of list,"

said Adrien Quatennens, the national coordinator of LFI, also deputy from the North.

For the Insubordinates, who are usually hostile to the large gathering of the left including the socialists, this is a real change in doctrine.

Unlike 2015, the left could hold on even if it comes third

It must be said that no left-wing force wishes to relive the nightmare scenario of 2015, where the scattering of the lists had led to an outright withdrawal of the Socialists in the second round, to facilitate at the time a victory for Xavier Bertrand against at Marine Le Pen.

The result: no left-wing regional councilor has sat in Hauts-de-France for the past six years.

The trauma is such that, if the left union list comes third next June, it should this time choose to stay in the second round.

"The RN threat is not the same as in 2015,"

said the rebellious Adrien Quatennens, while the RN candidate for the 2022 presidential election did not stand for re-election.

The PS wants to multiply the union lists in several regions

Before Karima Delli, it was Fabien Roussel, the national secretary of the PCF, who seemed favorite to carry the list.

An agreement even seemed on the verge of being found at the end of February between socialists, communists and rebels.

Finally, it was Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who vetoed it.

According to France Bleu Nord, the LFI candidate would have refused to add a potential competitor to the presidential election.

Fabien Roussel dreams of embarking on an independent candidacy for the Élysée in 2022, without an agreement with La France Insoumise, unlike 2012 and 2017.

This turnaround is therefore a victory for the Greens.

"We are the only ones able to make the junction between all the forces of the left"

, rejoices an EELV executive.

On BFMTV, Olivier Faure, the head of the PS, wanted this example of union to be reproduced in other regions such as "

the Grand-Est, in Normandy, in Paca

 ".

But behind who?

“That we can find ourselves, behind an environmentalist, behind a socialist, behind a personality of civil society…”

, he enumerated.

Implication: the Greens will not systematically win the bet.
