Weilheim - For the second time, the "French Week" in Weilheim is canceled due to the corona.

"The ongoing corona pandemic and the associated restrictions and bans on the implementation of large events have prompted the city of Weilheim and Weilheimer Wirte GbR to cancel the largest and most popular cultural event in the district town for summer 2021 in the spring," says it in a press release from the city administration.

There will also be no alternative date for the festival originally planned for the period from June 30th to July 4th on Marienplatz.

The “Bavarian Week” will also not take place in the French twin town of Narbonne

In Weilheim's twin town Narbonne in the south of France, the decision has already been made in the town hall not to hold larger events - and thus also the "Bavarian Week" - this year.

The annual exchange visit that is part of the town twinning is also canceled.

“It is of course a shame that our big twinning celebration with Narbonne and the Bavarian Week cannot take place in our twin town for the second time in a row,” Weilheim's mayor Markus Loth is quoted in the press release.

"However, the time has simply not yet come to celebrate the big festivals and the corona pandemic continues to force us all to act cautiously." Loth continues: "On the other hand, we would be very happy if the a bit more normality would return here next year. ”sts
