Today, an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit central Greece, without any reports of casualties or serious material damage.
Reuters quoted the Athens Institute of Geodynamics as saying that the quake struck at a depth of 8.5 kilometers and its epicenter was located 16 kilometers south of the town of Elasuna in central Greece.
Last week, a strong earthquake struck the same area, damaging hundreds of buildings and prompting residents to flee their homes and stay in tents provided by the authorities as temporary shelter.
