Acting State Attorney will reconsider the decision not to charge Yarin Sharaf with rape

Fellow Isman has announced that a team will enter next week to look into prosecuting the young man for reduced offenses of consensual illegitimate husband, rather than the 13-year-old's rape at the Corona Hotel.

The decision not to charge him with rape provoked outrage and led to many appeals to the prosecution on the matter

Acting State Attorney Amit Isman announced today (Friday) that he will reconsider the decision not to charge 13-year-old Yarin Sharaf with rape at the Corona Hotel.

Sharaf was charged this week with two counts of unlawful conspiracy, sexual harassment, threats, assault and supply of intoxicating liquor to a minor.

The State Attorney's Office said in a statement that Isman will hold an urgent hearing headed by him regarding the affair at the beginning of next week, together with the relevant parties in the matter.

The decision not to prosecute Sharaf for rape provoked public outrage.

The complainant's mother and attorney Amit Hadad, from the Hadad Roth Shenhar law firm, representing the family, criticized the indictment: "This is rape, and any other interpretation is sinful to the truth. Worse, this decision gives the green light and prepares for the next rape."

"A situation in which on the one hand - the indictment points to violence against a 13-year-old girl, and on the other - speaks of a husband who is prohibited by consent, illogical and unthinkable. We will not keep quiet until the rapist receives full punishment for the serious act he committed," they attacked.
