They do not deny the existence of the disease or the need for action.
However, the members of the Covid 78 collective consider that the prefectural decree of March 2 making it compulsory to wear a mask throughout the department is "disproportionate".
This is the reason why they filed an appeal before the Administrative Court of Versailles on Tuesday.
Created last December, the group claims about forty active members in the north of the department.
"We are not asking for the repeal of the decree but for a relaxation," explains Pierre Petit.
The latter wants differentiated measures depending on the health situation of each municipality.
"The idea is not to make the mask compulsory in urban areas and to do without it completely in rural areas, it is not that simple."
Draw inspiration from a neighboring department
For him, we should be inspired by Val-d'Oise, where the mask is mandatory in cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants and those, less populated, located on the outskirts of large complexes.
For rural municipalities where the incidence rate is high, mayors can also issue orders.

Covid-19: has the situation improved in the departments under reinforced surveillance?
"The wearing of the compulsory mask everywhere arouses more and more rejection, especially among young people, this decree should not be counterproductive", remarks, again, Pierre Petit.
In addition, he notes from figures from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) that the health situation in Yvelines is "less catastrophic than in neighboring departments, it does not require such drastic measures.
"
556 people hospitalized including 60 in intensive care
According to the prefecture, 556 people positive for Covid-19 were hospitalized in Yvelines on Wednesday, including 60 in intensive care.
"Or fifteen more patients compared to last week."
Figures, however, to be put into perspective: these patients are not all residents of the department.
"The situation in the Yvelines is less bad than in the other departments of Ile-de-France, but it is not for all that satisfactory", sums up the side of the prefecture.
There is no improvement in the situation either.
“As in the rest of the country, the incidence rate decreases among those over 75 and increases among the youngest.
We need clear and homogeneous rules, it is easier for the inhabitants and the police ”.
