The Val-de-Marne Assize Court on Thursday condemned the young men on trial for the death of Amine, a 15-year-old teenager massacred

"It's a relief," says Samir Safsafi, seeing four of the five defendants go to prison when the verdict is announced.

This Thursday, at the end of the afternoon, two of the four young men were sentenced to eight years, the other two to seven years in prison for violence committed in a meeting resulting in death without intention of giving it by the court of 'assizes of the miners of Val-de-Marne, in Créteil.

In January 2014, about fifteen minors had truly lynched Amine, a 15-year-old teenager who was returning home after his day of classes at college.

Arrived 20 minutes after the incident, another young man was sentenced to six months in prison for having participated in this armed gathering.

Tremor voices, Gülay and Samir Safsafi come out exhausted from these eight days of trial behind closed doors.

“We have been waiting for this for seven years, but this will not bring our son back to us,” stammers Amine's mother, who refused to allow her two other children to attend the debates: “It's too hard.

"

The couple do not hide their bitterness.

“The investigative work of the police has been remarkable, but I blame it on justice.

We are not heard ”, gets angry Samir Safsafi, ulcerated by the qualification of the facts.

“We heard the course of the accused, their project, the changes since the facts.

For us, our pain is final, chokes Gülay Safsafi.

Victims don't matter.

"

Settlement of accounts between districts

In April 2019, the couple had already faced a first trial in children's court with nine minors, aged under 16 at the time of the facts.

They had been sentenced to terms of up to ten years in prison.

For this second trial, concerning minors aged at least 16 on the day of the facts, the court returned to this scene "of exceptional gravity", as the president recalled to justify his judgment.

At the end of the afternoon of January 2014, the pack of minors from the Kremlin-Bicêtre sought revenge for a previous lost fight, a few days earlier, against young people from the city of Victor-Hugo de Gentilly.

"All the accused did not dispute the facts," recalls the president, who specifies that the band was walking with "a bag full of weapons and tear gas canisters.

"

The gang "persists with punches, kicks, crutches"

When they meet Amine, totally unknown to the justice system whose one and only fault is to live in Gentilly, the gang is totally out of control.

The president then evokes young people who "persevere with punches, kicks, crutches" on the victim on the ground.

"The interveners must jostle to access the victim", details the magistrate.

“Barbarians!

", Gülay Safsafi repeats on several occasions to qualify" the murderers "of his son.

"How do you want to turn the page?

How can you forgive when your son died like this for no reason?

“Asks the father, particularly affected after the brawls, sometimes fatal, of recent days, in Essonne or in Val-de-Marne.

This Monday at the end of the day, two teenagers were very seriously injured during a violent fight in Champigny-sur-Marne.

"The violence of recent days is the result of French justice," said the father.

Justice, in his eyes, far too lax.
