In regions in the west of the country in particular, there are warnings of “hurricane-like gusts” - and the next low is already in the offing.
The weather in Germany will be really stormy for the first time in 2021 with the storm "Klaus".

"Klaus" hit parts of Germany on Thursday (March 11th) with gale-force gusts.
The worst now seems to be over - even if the storm and rain continue in many places (
see update from March 11, 8:30 p.m.
).
Fortunately, the damage was not known to be too great on Thursday evening.
Areas in the northwest, especially on the coast, were particularly hard hit by the storm *.
In Bremen-Nord the power supply failed over a large area after a tree fell on a substation in a storm.
The damage could be repaired that evening.
A fallen tree also stopped a regional train in the region.
All passengers were uninjured.

Storm in Germany: high water levels and fallen trees due to low "Klaus"
In the north and northwest, cities and ferry companies had prepared for the storm.
For the night of Friday (March 12), the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) expected water levels on the North Sea coast to be up to one meter above normal floods.
In Lower Saxony and Bremen, the fire brigades kept moving up until the afternoon because of fallen trees.
Rail traffic was partially affected.
However, the danger of storms is not banned.
Another storm low is expected as early as next Saturday (March 13th).
According to initial predictions, it could hit central and southern Germany in particular.

Deep "Klaus" not only brings storms, but also heavy rains to Germany.
In many places it is raining heavily - but the danger of hurricane gusts * seems to be slowly subsiding.
The warning of level 3 storms from the German Meteorological Service is now only valid in Baden-Württemberg.
There, too, warnings are only given in individual areas - including the Freudenstadt region and the region in the southwest from Freiburg to Lörrach.

The official warning from the German Meteorological Service of hurricane gusts applies in these regions in Baden-Württemberg until 6 a.m. on Friday morning (March 12).
Warnings of storm gusts of warning level 2, however, still apply to the entire west of Germany.

The storm also moved over Thuringia on late Thursday afternoon.
The German Weather Service had warned of strong thunderstorms with the risk of squalls and lightning strikes in large parts of the state.
In the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, three electricity pylons were knocked down by the storm.
This caused brief disruptions in the power supply, reports the

.
According to Thüringer Netze GmbH, 850 customers were temporarily without electricity.
By switching the lines, however, the power supply could be resumed very quickly.
According to the DWD, the Level 2 warning of “striking weather” currently still applies to Thuringia.
“There are gusts of wind at speeds between 50 km / h and 70 km / h, initially from a south-westerly direction and later from a westerly direction.
Wind gusts of up to 80 km / h must be expected near showers and in exposed locations, ”says the current report, which is still valid until 8 p.m.
