Roi "Ginger" Sadan, the cyclist who became famous after circumnavigating the globe while riding his bicycle, passed away today (Friday) after being fatally injured this week in a car accident with a bus in Rosh Hanikra.

The date of his funeral has not yet been set.

He was taken to the Galilee Hospital in Nahariya in a critical condition, anesthetized and respirated, suffering from a severe head injury as well as a multi-system injury.

He did not survive the severe injury and despite the efforts of the medical staff was pronounced dead.

Sadan had previously experienced a serious injury following a bicycle accident, when he was seriously injured in 2015, after being hit in the Himalayas, but that time he managed to recover from the injury.

At Kibbutz Rosh Hanikra, where he lived with his family, they were shocked by his death: "This is a tragedy for the family, friends and the community in the kibbutz," his friends said;

'Ginger's death is so tragically difficult to digest and it's a big hole left in our lives.

"Roy, who was always called 'redhead', always knew how to sweep everyone away with a perpetual smile and conquering charisma. We will miss him, and we will find a way to cherish and remember him and his way and legacy. May his memory be blessed."

A senior member of the medical staff who treated Sadan told Israel Today: .

If he had continued to wear a helmet, the injury would probably have been less severe and he would probably have survived the injury to his head. '
