TRIBUTE - The deputy for Oise and administrator of the Figaro group disappeared Sunday in a helicopter accident at the age of 69. His friends pay tribute to this man of many talents.

"With him, nothing was ever trivial", by Guillaume Roquette, editorial director of

Figaro Magazine

It was last week in the Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee.

Far from the television sets, Olivier Dassault called on Pascal Lamy, the former boss of the WTO, on the means to rebuild French industrial sectors, to produce the goods that we had so cruelly missed at the start of the pandemic.

Four days before the fatal accident, this last public intervention clearly reflected what he was: a man inhabited by love for his country, but always concerned with concrete solutions.

The experienced airplane pilot saw far, but the hunter had his feet on the ground.

With him, nothing was ever trivial.

Businessman, deputy, photographer, musician… Olivier Dassault was a man of passions, living them all with equal intensity and the same high standards.

His natural ease and pleasure in life made it seem like everything was easy for him, but the expertise that was his in his favorite fields left no doubt.
