The Bicentennial of the University of Buenos Aires was the excuse for the public reunion of President Alberto Fernández with the Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, in the midst of a relationship that cooled over the months, particularly after the decision of the Nation to cut funds to the Buenos Aires coffers corresponding to the federal co-participation.

The President led the act that officially began the UBA's Bicentennial Year in the historic building on the Manzana de las Luces.

And among those present were the mayor of Buenos Aires and, also, the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, among other officials.

December 30 had been the last meeting between the President and the Head of Government.

That day they held a 25-minute meeting in the fifth of Olivos

due to the increase in coronavirus infections.

But there were no public statements.

Last Monday, Rodríguez Larreta was invited to the Casa Rosada to sign an agreement of all the provinces to promote gender equality.

But the head of the Buenos Aires government missed the appointment so as not to share the act with the governor of Formosa, Gildo Insfrán, strongly criticized for the situation of repression that exists in that province.

Larreta enters the event with his ministers Soledad Acuña and Fernán Quirós.
