The European Union is since yesterday "zone of freedom for LGTBIQ people."

This was approved by the European Parliament in a resolution that wants to respond sharply to the so-called "LGTBIQ ideology-free zones" in Poland, which began to proliferate two years ago and which the European Parliament considers have encouraged "discrimination and attacks" to that community in Poland.

The text was supported by 492 votes in favor, while 141 deputies spoke out against and 46 abstained.

“This resolution is a strong message to EU governments: we will no longer tolerate your dangerous and deadly rhetoric that prevents millions of citizens from living freely.

It is a promise of freedom that we make to all LGTBIQ people in Europe: that Parliament will support freedom, ”said the liberal MEP and author of the resolution, Pierre Karleskind.

The European Commission has already refused to give funding to some municipalities that have joined this declaration against the homosexual, bisexual and transgender group.

However, the resolution of the European Parliament calls for going further.

The text requires that all available tools be used to protect the rights of the community, including infringement procedures, Article 7 of the Treaty, and regulations that have recently been approved to protect the community budget from fraud and violations of the State. of law.

Most of the groups showed their support for the resolution during the debate last Wednesday, except those of the Identity and Democracy groups - where the Marine Le Pen Group, the Matteo Salvini League or Alternative for Germany is located - and the Conservatives and European Reformists, where the party of the Polish Executive Law and Justice and the Spanish Vox are found.

The resolution also refers to the worsening situation in Hungary.

During the month of November 2020, the town of Nagykáta approved a resolution prohibiting the “dissemination and promotion of LGTBIQ propaganda”, while the Hungarian Parliament approved a constitutional amendment that prevents same-sex couples from adopting and denies the existence of
