After its salvation from terrorism for nearly a year and a half, Khan Sheikhoun city, with the efforts of government service institutions and the passion of its people, is trying to gradually recover in rebuilding what was destroyed by terrorism and continuing the path of life for its people in various educational, service and agricultural aspects.

During the past months, the city has witnessed the rehabilitation of a number of service projects that encouraged its people to return to their homes, including restoring electricity, rehabilitating three schools, sanitation and water networks, which are expected to resume pumping into the city’s lines during the coming period.

The residents are currently being provided with mobile tanks as a temporary aid, according to the head of the Khan Sheikhoun City Council, Engineer Abdul Karim Al-Najjar, in a statement to the SANA reporter, stressing that the completion of these important service works has encouraged the return of more than 363 families. The number is expected to increase several times during the coming period with improvement. Service matters, completion of the work of removing the rubble, opening the streets, feeding the city with drinking water, and the end of the school year next summer.

Hussein Hajj Ali, Secretary of the Party Division in Khan Sheikhoun said, from the first moment to liberate the city from the clutches of terrorism, on the twenty-second of August of 2019, we started working to secure the basic requirements for the returning families, such as the health clinic, which is currently undergoing restoration work by the Ministry of Health and the (UNDB) organization. It includes various medical specialties, technical and nursing staff, and it is scheduled to be put into service and investment at the end of this March, in addition to the restoration of several other service institutions and departments, including the party branch building, which hosts various party and service meetings.

Engineer Muhammad Munir al-Najm from the Technical Services in Idlib explained that work is currently underway to rehabilitate and equip the temporary Idlib Governorate building in Khan Sheikhoun, which is to be opened soon and will represent a nucleus for various public institutions and agencies and a strong impetus for the service and administrative work process in the governorate in general and the Khan Sheikhoun region in particular. .

Khaled Al-Muhaimid, an administrative instructor at Adnan Al-Maliki High School, indicated that there are currently three schools in the city, starting from the stage of basic education to secondary education, which include 36 teaching and administrative personnel, and about 170 male and female students are currently studying in them, and this number is steadily increasing, indicating the beginning of the educational sector recovery in Khan Sheikhoun too.

A number of residents emphasized that despite the city’s need to continue improving its service and social reality, they feel great relief and overjoyed happiness at their return to their city and their homes, which they have longed for after they left them in the past, armed terrorist groups, pointing out that the city is currently experiencing an active movement of reconstruction in various different areas. The levels, especially in terms of the resumption of agricultural activity that the Khan Sheikhoun region is famous for on a large scale due to the fertility of its land and its production of many agricultural crops, especially the pistachios, whose young tree buds began to bloom during this period of the spring season announcing the return of the seasons of goodness and giving in conjunction with the start of the restoration of the city Recovered and shed the usual.

Farmer Ahmed Khattab, from the returning people of Khan Sheikhoun, said that since the liberation of the city and his return to it, he began cultivating his land with various crops, calling on government agencies, especially the Agricultural Bank, to support farmers and encourage them to resume the agricultural process in terms of securing production requirements such as fertilizers, diesel and pesticides.
