The Damascus Chess Championship for age groups has been held by the Technical Committee for the Game in Al-Faiha Sports City in preparation for the participation of its players in the Republic Championship during the next few period.
Ghadeer Maarouf for the 8-year-old category, Radwan Al-Hamwi 10 years old, Ward Subuh 12 years old, Hussein Abbas 14 years old, Waila Al-Basha 8 years old, Naya Al-Basha 10 years old, Sama Salama 12 years old, and Tala Al-Basha 14 years won the championship.
Committee Chairman Muhammad Abbas said in a statement to the representative of Sana Al-Riyadi that the tournament had enjoyed strong competitions and that the class champions qualified for the final of the Republic Championship, which will be held later, and it is expected that the Damascus players will compete strongly for the first places in their next maturity.
The committee held the preliminary stage of the governorate championship for the men's category, with the participation of 65 players, according to the Swiss Fischer game system, consisting of 7 rounds and at a time of one hour and 30 seconds, where at the end of the fourteen finalists were arranged according to their results for the final to be held later.
In Hama, the Governorate Chess Championship that was held for the same age groups witnessed strong competitions that ended with the victory of the pioneers of Shear in the 6-year-old category, Mazen Fendi 8 years old, Akram Qasim 10 years old, Muhammad Zain 12 years old, and Tim Zahra 14 years old.
In the female category, Aya Husaynu won the 8-year category competitions, the 10-year category Bana Hashem, the 12-year category Massa Qashash, and the 14-year category Maram Issa.
International referee Ali Al-Khatib explained that the tournament was of a good level and featured many promising talents that would have a good future, pointing out that Hama players and players who will represent the governorate in the upcoming Republic Championship have been selected.
