Attentive strollers and residents near the Fürstenfeld monastery have noticed it for a long time: the church clock no longer works, the bells are silent when the hour strikes.
What is behind this is still unclear.
Markus Amann, head of administration in the Fürstenfeld parish association, has an assumption.
Fürstenfeldbruck - "In the course of the renovation of the burglar alarm system, the electricity was briefly turned off by a specialist company," explains Markus Amann.
The tower clock and church bells were reconnected afterwards, but the bells have not struck since then.
"I can only guess that it has something to do with the electrical work, but it is not certain," says Amann.
Maintenance work is currently in progress in the monastery church.
After the end of this, the administration manager receives a report about the cause.
The mechanical chiming of the bell, which can be heard, for example, at church services and masses, works, however.
And the clock tower of the Protestant Church of the Redeemer on Stockmeierweg is still standing.
Actually, it was thought that the clockwork damage would be fixed quickly.
But that was almost three months ago.
The clock is completely defective, as Pastor Valentin Wendebourg reports.
“Churches are very special patients.” The repair is not an easy undertaking.
“It's a certain bureaucracy jungle that our secretary deals with almost every day.” But an end is in sight: the missing spare part has now arrived.
The repair should be done before Easter.
With that the bells for the resurrection feast could ring again.
