Argentina's President Alberto Fernández was attacked by demonstrators while visiting a forest fire area.
A group of mining opponents threw stones at the vehicle of the delegation of the head of state in the city of Lago Puelo, as the Argentine media unanimously report.
Windows broke, but Fernández was apparently unharmed.
The president broke off his trip anyway and returned to Buenos Aires after a helicopter flight.
The background to the anger is apparently Fernández 'support for a large mining project of the governor of the province of Chubut, Mariano Arcioni.
Fernández was actually there to get an idea of the devastating fires that have been afflicting the area at the foot of the Andes in the Argentine part of Patagonia for several days.
According to media reports, 2,000 hectares of forest have been destroyed so far, and at least 250 houses have also been damaged.
The cause of the fire is still unclear.
As "El Chubut" reports, more than 200 families in four communities in four communities in Chubut Province were brought to safety.
The newspaper "La Nación" reported, citing regional authorities, of 330 people who had been brought to safety.
Dozens of people were injured and there were also some missing.
