The quarry in Ashkelon
Malka Cohen and Rachel Arbel, a mother and daughter from Ashkelon, were trapped today (Sunday) in a swampy mud pit up to shoulder height, and were rescued by firefighters from the Ashkelon station.
Malka Cohen, the daughter of Esther and the sister of Rachel Arbel, told "Israel Today": "My mother and my sister fell into the swamp pit. "The doctor said she needed some surgery. We intend to file a lawsuit."
According to her, this is a real omission that caused an accident that fortunately did not result in any casualties.
"There were no signs in the area. The contractors who work at the place did not fence the place. It is a known shortcut. They always walk away from the city towards their house."
In addition, the mother and daughter claim to have lost various valuables in the pit, as well as a large sum of money from the Social Security contributions that they had previously redeemed.
Firefighters and Rescue said: "At the 102nd Fire and Rescue Center for Israel, Southern District, several messages were received about civilians trapped in swamp mud up to the height of the neck on Yitzhak Rabin Street in Ashkelon.
Rescue crews operated on the scene in a very complex rescue of 2 women who were trapped in the swamp mud up to neck height.
"A tractor that built a dirt embankment assisted in guiding the firefighters to the rescue, until the civilians were pulled out of the pit with the help of rescue harnesses and dedicated equipment."
