Iranian-Briton Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe appeared on Sunday (March 14th) in a Tehran court for "
propaganda against the system
" of the Islamic Republic, just days after he finished serving a five-year prison sentence, he learned. 'AFP to his lawyer.

The trial took place in a very calm and good atmosphere, in the presence of my client,
” Me Hojjat Kermani told AFP.

During a single session, "
the pleadings took place and the trial ended,
" said Mr. Hojjat Kermani, suggesting that the judgment had been referred under advisement on an unspecified date.
"
Given the elements presented by the defense and the legal process, and the fact that my client has also served her previous sentence, I hope that she will be acquitted,
" added the lawyer.
According to Me Hojjat Kermani, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 42, is being prosecuted for "
propaganda against the system (policy of the Islamic Republic, editor's note) for having participated in a rally in front of the Iranian embassy in London in 2009
".
An employee of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the news agency of the same name, Ms. Zaghari-Ratcliffe was arrested in 2016 at Tehran airport after visiting her family.

Accused of having plotted to overthrow the Islamic regime, which she fiercely denies, this binational was sentenced in September of the same year to five years' imprisonment, a sentence she completed serving on March 7.
