Suicidal act or uncontrolled aggression?

For the time being, no one can yet decide the question.

A man armed with a knife was shot dead this Sunday noon in Paris, in the 18th arrondissement, by a police officer.

It was around 11:45 am that the drama took place in rue Boinod.

The police are called in to put an end to a family dispute.

It is the officials on mountain bikes who travel.

"Two of them go up to the floors of this building while the third stays in the street to watch the bikes," said a source close to the case.

A man with an attitude considered strange approaches him.

The policeman tries to drive him away but this character, visibly disturbed, insists and takes out a knife.

The official brandishes his telescopic baton which has the effect of scaring away his interlocutor.

The unbalanced shot of three bullets

A few minutes later, the same man returns to the charge, gun in hand.

The policeman picks up his stick but, in circumstances which remain to be clarified, knocks it to the ground.

The disturbing figure continues to advance towards him with his blade in hand.

The policeman takes out his pistol and opens fire three times.

The man is hit and he collapses on the ground.

Help arrives quickly but the victim, hit by three bullets, dies quickly.

The duty prosecutor visited the site to assess the conditions for self-defense.

“An investigation is open.

The investigations are entrusted to the IGPN (general inspection of the national police) ", specifies the Parisian public prosecutor of Paris, which adds that" the exact circumstances of the facts are to be specified ".

The shocked police official was taken to hospital.

He should be placed in police custody as the procedure wants.

"This is not a terrorist attack," underlines Alliance delegate Yoann Maras, departmental manager for Paris.

We are in the presence of an act perpetrated by an imbalance ”.

The rest of the investigations will perhaps make it possible to understand what the victim's motivations were.
