It is often customary to think of the most common translations, for example Hebrew to English translations of documents, certificates, academic materials and more.
But translation is a very broad world, which also includes quite a few surprising industries, which are not known to the general public.
Such industries include, among others, every translator company, whose activities are exceptional among the community of translators in Israel.
"We have been working for over 30 years. First from Jerusalem, then from Kfar Chabad and from 2003 from Bnei Brak," says Yael Rinkoff, the company's founder and director. The company deals with every translation industry imaginable, but one of the most intriguing activities is certainly for the audience. "Torah translation is a real challenge"
What exactly is a Torah translation?
"The intention is to translate material from Jewish sources, including the translation of documents, which include halakhic terms," Rinkoff explains.
According to her, this is a real challenge that requires great skill and professionalism.
"The Torah, the Mishnah, and the Jewish Scriptures are written in a unique style, which includes expressions in foreign languages such as Aramaic," Rinkoff explains the difficulty inherent in Torah translation.
"The great challenge for a Torah translator is to know which phrases to keep as they are and which phrases to translate. The translator must understand the meaning of the text in depth, and alongside great professionalism must ensure that the reading of the translated text is clear and fluent. This is not a trivial task."
"Trust us in Yiddish translation"
Another prominent and unconventional field in which the company specializes is Yiddish translation.
"Our company is unique and specializes in this," Rinkoff boasts.
"Among other things, we are approached by translation agencies that are not versed in the language and the whole issue of Yiddish, and they trust us."
According to Rinkoff, Yiddish is gaining momentum and in recent years has returned to star as a language that many are interested in and want to translate from and to: "Today the language is studied in various settings, in schools and academia."
Rinkoff emphasizes that Yiddish should be given a place of honor.
"All the grammar, vocabulary and many verbs that exist in the language must be observed. Today, great emphasis is placed on the original Yiddish literature, and the special culture of Yiddish-speaking Eastern Europeans."
What does the company translate from Yiddish?
"Anything you can think of," Rinkoff says.
"We translate, for example, letters preserved from the Holocaust, documents, wills, books, and various Yiddish-language publications, such as emergency instructions for Yiddish-speaking Jews abroad.
The translations are done from Yiddish to Hebrew and English and vice versa. "
From Chinese to Portuguese and Georgian

Yael Rinkoff herself is very old in the field of translation, and has been involved in translations from Hebrew to English for 45 years and vice versa, and has been managing the translation company for three decades.
The company she runs specializes in performing Torah translation and Yiddish translation, but performs professional translation into about 50 languages, including those that are a little less routine, such as Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, Georgian and more.
"Our clientele is very diverse, and includes, among others, lawyers, commercial companies, players in the real estate market, universities and many private clients who have seen us as an address for many years. We are the only address for the ultra-Orthodox audience looking for a place that understands its needs and terms."
According to Rinkoff, the company operates in almost every conceivable field.
"We translate materials in the legal field, certificates and documents of all kinds, perform medical, technical, business, scientific translations and, as mentioned, specialize in the Jewish Torah field."
"A quality translator is a person with skill and creativity bordering on art," concludes Rinkoff.
"He needs not only proficiency in the source language and target language but to have a broad general knowledge of the culture of the language to which he is translating and specific knowledge in selected areas. Each translator has different areas of knowledge, so it is important to tailor the right person for each project."
Another area in which the company deals is transcripts of court recordings.
The consumers of the recordings are lawyers and their clients, who are required to bring transcripts of recordings of conversations between litigants as evidence in court.
These transcripts must be extremely accurate and completely true to what is heard in the recording.
The translation certificates and transcripts provided by the company are recognized by the courts, embassies, government ministries and other official bodies.
