It is through activism that Isabelle and Benoît Amiel set up their company in a rural area, in the Oise. To curb "the economic exodus

Installed at the edge of the fields, the rotating stone has found its paradise in Couloisy, in the Oise.

Isabelle and Benoît Amiel, a couple of successful entrepreneurs, have deliberately chosen to settle in the countryside to develop their biscuit factory and open their artisan bakery a month and a half ago.

They could have decided to settle in Compiègne, a few kilometers away.

With their local notoriety, their shop would not have been empty and they could have counted on the strike force of the agglomeration of the region of Compiègne to promote their business.

But the couple decreed that their professional happiness was in the meadow!

"Here, we are just like at home"

“Why settle in the city?

There are things to do here.

People come, even if we are indeed a little lost in the middle of nowhere, ”smiles Isabelle, who never shies away from her outspokenness.

“In any case, the city centers are saturated.

It is always the same brands, always the same franchises that set up there, she continues.

They become inaccessible to the self-employed.

The rents are astronomical and ultimately, there are no more people in the shops.

Here, we feel at home.

In six weeks of presence, the clientele of the bakery has already developed.

Ten years ago, the Turning Stone had only two employees, they are now seven: three inhabitants of the sector joined the team at the opening of the workshop-boutique.

“I am from Beauvais and my husband from Attichy.

We were naturopaths, then we ran organic stores for twenty years.

We are passionate about healthy and natural food, ”continues the owner.

“Peri-urban dwellers also have the right to quality products!

"A sourdough bread like there was in bakers when I was little"

Quickly, word of mouth did its work and hardly five minutes goes by without the doorbell ringing, announcing a new customer.

Patrick, 72, was a little taken aback the first time he asked for a wand.

" There is not any !

I wanted normal bread and ended up with sourdough bread like there was at bakers when I was little.

Finally, I am not disappointed.

"

Nathalie, 29 years old, already knew the Turning Stone and discovered the new store on Tuesday March 9: “The Amiel family are part of the landscape, they knew how to make their hole.

Some customers even travel nearly 70 kilometers to discover the place.

“I live in Chantilly and love their breakfast cereals and macaroons.

I even found some in Brittany during my vacation!

I didn't think they were exported outside the Oise!

"

Soon a real living space with concerts, knitting clubs ...

The Amiel's quickly realized that if they wanted to stay in the countryside, they had to have a hell of a business plan.

Their delicacies can be found all over France, in 250 stores.

Organic brands, delicatessens, restaurants, hotels, tea rooms… The workshop produces between 400 and 500 sachets per day.

It is also thanks to their biscuit factory that they were able to realize their dream: to open a bakery.

With this investment of 700,000 euros, they opened their “place of life”.

"When it is possible, we will open the tea room.

We would like to host concerts, exhibitions, debates, knitting clubs, enthuses Isabelle.

People are already naturally found in the store.

We don't have much opportunity to do it anymore.

There are no more fireworks on July 14, no more balls… We have to reinvent our lives in the countryside!
