Kong Fanyi, a co-convener of the expert committee, said that today’s meeting was held to examine in detail the deaths and abnormalities after vaccination, and the current seven deaths are all inoculated with Kexing vaccine.
He explained that the first death was a 63-year-old man. Anatomy initially showed severe coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction, resulting in pulmonary edema and respiratory failure.
The second is a 55-year-old woman. The preliminary autopsy report showed that she had aorta tear and stroke; two cases are still waiting for a full autopsy report.
The third death case involved a 71-year-old man who passed away last Monday (8th).
After being vaccinated with Kexing vaccine on March 3, he fainted at home on the evening of March 7 and died after being taken to the emergency department of United Hospital by ambulance.
The initial anatomy report showed that he had severe coronary heart disease, 90% or more of the three cardiovascular occlusions, and severe myocardial infarction and pulmonary edema which led to death.
The committee preliminarily confirmed that the man’s death was not directly related to the vaccine, and waited for a complete autopsy report before making a causal relationship assessment summary.

The fourth death case involved a 70-year-old woman who suffered from hypertension and degenerative arthritis.
She was vaccinated with Kexing vaccine on March 2. After 9 days, on March 11, she developed shortness of breath and fainted at home. She was rushed to Guanghua Hospital and died.
The preliminary autopsy report showed that the deceased had severe coronary heart disease, including 3 cardiovascular diseases with more than 90% occlusion, myocardial infarction and pulmonary edema.
The committee preliminarily believes that the cause of death is not directly related to vaccination, and is waiting for a complete autopsy report before making a causal relationship assessment.
The fifth death case involved an 80-year-old man. The deceased suffered from diabetes and vascular sclerosis. He also had strokes and high blood pressure in the past.
He was vaccinated with Kexing vaccination on March 1. He sought medical treatment in the Accident and Emergency Department of Caritas Medical Hospital on March 6 due to chest pain. He was clinically diagnosed with acute heart disease.
He was later transferred to the intensive care department for cardiac catheterization. It was found that 90% of his two major blood vessels were occluded, and he passed away on March 13.
The committee is still waiting for the autopsy report, and temporarily believes that the cause of death is related to cardiovascular problems, but preliminary estimates are not directly related to the vaccine.

The sixth death case was a 67-year-old man who had diabetes, high blood pressure and high blood lipids in the past. Cardiovascular problems have been found in an examination many years ago.
He was vaccinated with Kexing vaccination on March 2. He fainted at the MTR station on March 11 and was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he died on March 13.
After an autopsy this morning, it was found that both of his major blood vessels were 99% to 100% occluded, and the other blood vessel was also 50% occluded.
The committee believes that cardiovascular problems have a chance to induce arrhythmia or death due to heart infarction. The preliminary conclusion is that the cause of death is not directly related to the vaccine.
The seventh death case was newly announced. It involved a 63-year-old man with atrial tremor and chronic heart failure in the past, as well as fatty liver and other chronic diseases.
He received the first dose of Kexing vaccine on March 9 and was admitted to the hospital on March 10, when he was diagnosed with a stroke.
During the stay in the hospital, the arrhythmia continued and he was required to be sent to the intensive care department. However, his heart function failed until his death in the early morning of yesterday (14th).
The committee is awaiting the autopsy report, and initially believes that his heart problem is serious, as well as other organs. Therefore, the committee initially examined the cause of death and the weight vaccine is not directly related.

Among them was a 69-year-old man who felt numb and facial paralysis a few hours after being vaccinated with Kexing vaccination on March 6. He went to Ruttonjee Hospital on the same day and has now been discharged.
The other patient, a 57-year-old man, received Kexing vaccine on March 7. He developed facial paralysis and mouth weakness the next day, which improved after treatment.
However, he was newly diagnosed with diabetes and must be hospitalized for further treatment.
The two cases have not yet been determined to have a causal relationship with the vaccination.
Kong Fanyi explained that in the past, facial paralysis occurred only a few weeks after influenza vaccination, and it took a long time for the nerves to be damaged due to the production of antibodies and autoimmune reaction process. According to clinical experience, facial paralysis within a few hours after vaccination is not common, and it is also temporary. No conclusion can be drawn, the committee will continue to follow up.
Kong also said that according to Hong Kong mortality data, the daily average number of deaths due to ischemic heart disease or other heart diseases in 2019 was 16.7. The committee conducted a preliminary comparison of mortality during the same period, and there is no unusual situation for the time being.
I was asked why most of the current serious accidents are related to Kexing, but not related to the BioNTech vaccine.
