At the weekend, the Nuremberg police stopped an illegal animal transport with 101 puppies.

Dogs are in poor health - the investigation is ongoing.

Nuremberg

- The Erlangen traffic police were only able to stop two illegal animal transports at the end of February.

In one there were ten Maltese puppies, which are now being nursed in the Nuremberg animal shelter.

The officers also confiscated four border collie mixed breeds because they were in poor health and the driver could not produce any papers for the animals.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the police were able to stop an animal transport again - this time with 101 puppies on board.

Shortly before midnight, the officers of the Nuremberg East Inspection checked a transporter with the label "Live Animals" in the Äußere Sulzbacher Strasse in Nuremberg *.

The police in Middle Franconia * announced this on Facebook.

"He was traveling from Hungary to Belgium," the message continues.

In the vehicle, the police found 101 puppies who did not appear to be in good health.

Nuremberg: Illegal animal transport - puppies dehydrated and without food

Since there were doubts about the health status, the papers and the transportation of the puppies, the officials informed the Nuremberg animal shelter.

The employees of the animal shelter took care of the dogs and confirmed the suspicions of the officials, according to the Facebook message.

  • The animals had nothing to drink or eat, although water and food were brought with them.

  • The sizes of the animals did not match the age indicated in the vaccination records that were carried with them.

  • All puppies suffered from severe diarrhea and were dehydrated.

  • Two puppies may have been harmed by being transported in the cramped cage.

The animals were seized and are now all in the Nuremberg animal shelter.

The animal shelter asks in a message to refrain from inquiries, as the young dogs are not available for placement.

"The current task is to stabilize the puppies and to wait for the next few weeks".

The puppies all suffered from diarrhea and were very exhausted.

In order to transport dogs from Hungary across Europe, the animals would have to be at least 15 weeks old and had a rabies vaccination.

The puppies are only six to eight weeks old and the vaccination papers are probably fake.

Nuremberg animal shelter urgently asks for support

The animal shelter is in urgent need of support.
