"
To the Syrian people I want to say: we will never give up this fight,
" tweeted the French president.
"
We remain at his side to respond to humanitarian needs, defend international law, fight against impunity, finally find a political solution, the only one possible,
" he added.
For lack of progress in the political field, France is trying to maintain humanitarian action to help the population.
On March 15, 2011, in the wake of the Arab Spring, a protest movement erupted in Syria, ruled with an iron fist for 40 years by the Assad family, before turning into civil war.
The conflict, sparked by the bloody repression of demonstrations for democracy, has left more than 387,000 dead.
Today, the fighting has decreased in intensity but the wounds remain wide open and the peace distant.
