Daraa Agriculture Directorate today inaugurated the first farmers school of its kind to produce organic thyme in Khirbet Ghazala town in Daraa countryside.

The Assistant Director of Agriculture, Eng. Bassam Al-Hasheesh, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the farmer applied agricultural instructions and excluded all chemical inputs, insecticides and fungi, pointing to the demand for organic products in the internal and external markets because it is free of pollutants.

Al-Hasheesh emphasized that the Agriculture Directorate always seeks to relieve farmers and help them restore their fields and farms that have been destroyed by terrorism.

The head of the Organic Production Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, Eng. Zainab Al-Zamil, stated that the directorate launched today the first organic farmers' school specializing in Khalili thyme consisting of 15 farmers, indicating that farmers benefited from a previous grant provided by the Arab Beekeepers Union.

She added that the Agriculture Directorate is following up the farmers' experience with meetings throughout the whole year, at the rate of one meeting per month, confirming that the organic product is free of pesticides and fertilizer residues, and we will work in the cultivation of Daraa to apply organic treatments with the cultivation of parents and grandparents within scientific standards.

The head of the extension unit in Khirbet Ghazaleh Qassim Al-Nashi stated that the cultivation of Khalili thyme entered Khirbet Ghazaleh through an agricultural grant that benefited about 26 farmers, confirming the success of the agricultural experiment with obstacles and obstacles in the field of marketing the product.

Farmer Ibrahim Daher pointed out that the cultivation of organic thyme was according to the methods specified by the Agriculture Directorate, leading to a clean product free of contaminants.
