The fifth suspected pigeon abuse incident occurred in two weeks today (15th).

At 3:14 this afternoon, the police received a report from a woman stating that a wild pigeon was stuck on the road at the junction of Shun Ning Road and Cheung Fat Street in Cheung Sha Wan, suspected of being abused.

The police arrived at the scene for investigation. The case was classified as cruel treatment of animals and was handed over to the Sham Shui Po Police District Animal Crime Police Team (the sixth team of the Criminal Investigation Team) for investigation. No one has been arrested for the time being.

The fishery and conservation staff and the association staff were also present to assist.

It can be seen from the field that the feathers of the wild pigeons involved are covered with a lot of tape and glue. After the inspector of the Association of Love Association arrived on the scene, they cleaned the wild pigeons, and then they were taken away in a plastic cage for further inspection.

A spokesman for the Association said that it had received a notice from the police earlier that a white pigeon was found on Cheung Fat Street in Cheung Sha Wan and needed assistance.

After the inspector of the Ai Association arrived at the scene, he found that the pigeon was covered with glue and tape and needed to be treated as soon as possible. So the pigeon was sent to the Ai Association Center in Wan Chai, where the veterinarian checked and cleaned the glue on the body.

Former member of the Legislative Council and current Yuen Long District Councillor, Kwong Chun-yu, has always been concerned about animal rights. He denounced the incident as heinous, "Wild pigeons are life, and they all feel pain!" He will write to the police requesting an investigation.

There have been four incidents of pigeon abuse in the past two weeks:

On March 2, in the South Village of Zhuyuan, Wong Taixian, an old man pulled out the feathers of a grey wild pigeon with his bare hands, ignoring the neighbourhood to drink it, and then several security guards arrived and called the police.

After preliminary investigation by the police, the case was classified as cruel treatment of animals. A 94-year-old man surnamed Xu was arrested the next day.

On March 3, the old man Wong Tai Sin was outside Ban Fung House, 111 Fung Tak Road. A 70-year-old man surnamed Tang was suspected of attacking wild pigeons with a stone. He was intercepted by police for strange behavior and was found to be involved in another in Mong Kok six months ago. Zong is wanted for the suspected pigeon abuse case, and the police arrested him for cruelty to animals.

On March 9, the same 70-year-old Mr. Deng, who was surnamed Deng, committed a crime in the open space off Da Shan Building, Upper Village, Wong Tai Sin, while he was released on bail.

Deng was arrested again on suspicion of cruel treatment of animals.

On March 13, the carcasses of 7 wild pigeons were found under a tree in the park off Fanling Wai, Sheung Shui. The preliminary examination showed that there were no obvious injuries on the pigeons. Some wild pigeons vomited green liquid.

Police officers found the red particles at the scene and have been tested. The case included cruel treatment of animals, and no one has been arrested yet.
