Corona easing and successful vaccination campaign in Israel: Tel Aviv people are sitting off the coast of the Mediterranean

Almost three months after the massive vaccination campaign began in Israel, the large Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv closed its last corona ward on Monday.
At the peak of the pandemic, there were still six corona stations, the clinic said.
The 18 remaining corona patients, all not fully vaccinated, should now be housed separately in the regular intensive care units.
It is a "moving day".
The Schiba Hospital near Tel Aviv announced on Monday that four corona wards had also been closed there.
The number of seriously ill in Israel had recently steadily decreased.
It was 627 on Monday. During the last Corona wave, it was about twice as high.
4.2 million Israelis already vaccinated twice
In the small Mediterranean country with around nine million inhabitants, a vaccination campaign began on December 19, which is one of the most successful in the world.
In the past few weeks, the number of seriously ill and new infections has decreased significantly.
So far, around 5.2 million people in Israel have received a first vaccination, and more than 4.2 million of them also received the second dose.
More than 786,000 Israelis are considered to have recovered from corona disease.
According to the Ministry of Health, more than 55 percent of the population received a first vaccination and more than 45 percent a second vaccination.
However, many people in Israel also died of or with Corona.
The number of deaths exceeded 6,000 on Monday.
The Ministry of Health announced that 6,011 people have died in connection with the virus since the pandemic began.
At the turn of the year the number of deaths was around 3400,
Israel is a country with a very young population, around 30 percent of its citizens are under 16 years old.
You cannot yet be vaccinated.
However, experts expect that vaccination of young people between the ages of 12 and 16 could begin by the summer.
