Weather in Bavaria: Up to one meter of fresh snow expected on the mountains
After we were able to sniff a bit of spring at the end of February - with double-digit plus degrees and plenty of sun - March has so far been showing its uncomfortable side.
And it's set to get even worse as the week progresses.
Especially in the south of Bavaria it will snow continuously for the next few days.
The German Weather Service (DWD) issues the second highest warning level for the Alpine region.
In locations over 1000 meters, there is definitely a meter of fresh snow in there by Wednesday.
And even in lower areas it can be 30 to 50 centimeters - in stowed areas even 70 centimeters.
The thermometer does not climb above one degree on Tuesday in Kempten or Berchtesgaden, for example.
In Lower Franconia, however, it remains milder with up to seven degrees.

“A crazy weather situation in the middle of March,” says Jung.
While the precipitation * in the flat country is more noticeable as rain, it should snow heavily, especially in the low mountain ranges and in the Alps.
The snow line sinks to up to 300 meters.

He speaks of a "cold hole" of minus ten degrees at night and daytime values of just over zero degrees.

They forecast values around minus nine degrees in Munich and minus eleven degrees in Kempten on Monday night.
Jung is then cautiously optimistic for the coming week.
