About two months ago, the Israel Postal Company expanded its appointment scheduling service to dozens of post offices.

As part of the move, which is intended to shorten service times, arrival at many branches around the country is offered by booking in advance, through the company's website, mobile app or by calling 171. Consumers who are not aware of this move and come to branches, can not receive service unless registered on the site .

Y. from Tel Aviv told "Israel Today": "I arrived at the post office on Hayarkon Street in Tel Aviv today to pick up my package. When I arrived at the branch, I was told that it was a branch that allows service only by appointment. You can order an appointment in the app and I did order, but "The queue that was available is an hour later. I hurried to work, so I did not wait for an hour."

"Even though the branch was empty, the representative did not agree to accept me. After an older person came in, he did not know and he did not get along with the app. And she did not give him a service either. "Sadness. It's frustrating. I do not understand why the Israel Post does not specify this detail on the order to collect the package. The minimum that must be written is that an appointment must be made."

It should be noted that the cities where an appointment must be booked in advance before arrival include: Tiberias, Carmiel, Katzrin, Nazareth, Nahariya, Kiryat Yam, Nesher, Hadera, Afula, Or Akiva, Kiryat Ono, Kfar Saba, Netanya, Ma'ale Adumim, Ashdod, Kiryat Gat, Dimona and selected branches in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Beer Sheva, Holon, Haifa, Petah Tikva and Rishon Lezion.

These are certain branches in these cities.

This move is a continuation of the pilot framework carried out in November and December, in which nine different units throughout the country participated, representing the whole of Israeli society - in the center, in the periphery, in the Arab and ultra-Orthodox sectors.

According to Israel Post data, customers who booked an appointment in advance waited an average of about six minutes.

In December, 2.5 million customers lined up at the post offices, of whom about 375,000 made an appointment in advance with about 15% of all arrivals.

For comparison, in September about two million customers lined up in the branches, of which only about 200,000 customers ordered an appointment, with about 10% of all arriving.

The goal: to reduce waiting times at branches

The Israel Post stated: "In recent months, the Israel Post Company has embarked on a revolutionary process, aimed at reducing waiting times at branches and increasing customer service satisfaction. This is similar to banks, health funds, government ministries and more.

"This move is intended to regulate the loads and prepare more correctly for the arrival of customers. Today, an appointment must be booked in advance in about 150 branches out of about 600 branches, while in February more than 40% of customers booked in advance, compared to about 10% last September and waiting time. The average was shortened by 50% and stood at about 6 minutes. "

The post office notes that this move has been widely reported in the media, and at the entrance to the postal units there are flight attendants to assist and explain the process.

You can book an appointment at the 171 call center, on the company's website and in the mobile app.
