In Munich, schools were allowed to return to face-to-face classes on Monday.
Resistance is stirring.
Two students demand more security in the current situation.
Munich - Thousands of young people have not been in their classrooms for over twelve weeks - on Monday the secondary schools (such as high schools and secondary schools) were allowed to reopen.
For the Munich 10th graders Anna-Lena (16) and Pia (15) in the current situation an absolute absurdity.
Munich: School opening despite rising corona numbers
“The risk of being infected is too great.
The number of infections is already rising! ”For this reason, the girls had organized a demo against school opening on Monday afternoon at Odeonsplatz in Munich - with distance and mask, of course.
"In the current framework, face-to-face teaching does more harm than good," says Anna-Lena.
Specifically, she says: “Voluntary self-tests are not yet available in all schools.
Up to now there are hardly any room fans either. ”And her friend Pia adds:“ In addition, the buses and trains that students take to class in the mornings are often completely jam-packed. ”
Compulsory attendance at schools - more harm than good?
Because so far, in addition to the final classes, only elementary schools have been allowed to return to alternating classes.
If this alternating instruction applies again to all classes at an incidence below 100, the high school students fear a sharp rise in the 7-day incidence: "That means not only more serious corona cases and deaths, but also the compulsion to take more stringent measures and thus also renewed school closings.
That's counterproductive! ”The 7-day incidence continues to rise, you can find more information in our Corona-News-Ticker for Munich *.
The girls not only fear that they could contract Corona themselves.
“My father belongs to the risk group, I don't want to endanger him,” says Pia.
"This is how it is for many other students with parents or grandparents."
That is why they want to make their concerns heard with the protest.
The girls were looking for comrades-in-arms via Whatsapp group, and Pia duly registered the demo with the district administration department.

That is what the students demand
Yesterday at Odeonsplatz everyone should hear their demands: A testing policy like in Austria, for example.
“Only those who can be tested regularly are allowed to go to school.” In addition, room fans in the schools and a staggered start of lessons to relieve the strain on public transport.
Pia: “The students should have the chance to continue studying at home if the online lessons have worked well so far.
So the option of presence instead of mandatory presence. ”The high school students also want to start a petition (more information on Instagram @ infektionsschutz_an_schulen or Twitter @anaktion).
Now the students can only hope that the Ministry of Culture will respond to their suggestions.
"We wish that we can change something to better protect us all!"
Criticism of the "show politics"
Simone Fleischmann (50), President of the Bavarian Teachers' Association, can understand the student protest: “It shows that there are fears among students, parents and teachers.
Much of what is currently happening in politics is no longer comprehensible even for the schoolchildren - that's why resistance is rightly rising. ”The fear of infection is understandable.
The state government must therefore stop “show politics”: “Don't just announce, but do it!” For Fleischmann, this means: “First all students have to be tested and all teachers vaccinated.
And then you open the schools again to everyone. "
Bavaria's teachers demanded an immediate vaccination offer and a comprehensive test strategy for all schools at the beginning of March.

School openings in Bavaria: Trouble with rapid tests
There is also trouble with the quick tests: The vocational school teachers in Bavaria feel left alone by the state government.
“Only a tenth of the promised rapid tests arrived, at some schools none at all.
There are no vaccinations for teachers ”, criticized the state chairman Pankraz Männlein yesterday.
He called the procedure "irresponsible".
Corona easing: school principal exempts own children from compulsory attendance - "risk is too high"
Many see the school openings in Bavaria critically.
Because of the relaxation of the corona, a school principal is exempting his own children from compulsory attendance, as

reports - "The risk is too high".

All citizens of Munich should receive rapid corona tests nationwide - and at no cost.
What are the options in the city?
Here is an overview.
