Henri Rancoule, former winger for Lourdes and the XV of France, with whom he won the Five Nations Tournament five times between 1955 and 1962, died Monday at the age of 88, announced Tuesday the president of the Federation Bernard The door.

"I am sad to learn of the death of Henri Rancoule, figure of rugby from Lourdes," tweeted Bernard Laporte.

On his record, conquered with Lourdes during the club's heyday, Rancoule had three consecutive French champion titles (1956 to 1958), as well as three Yves du Manoir challenges (1953, 1954 and 1956).

Born in Bram, in Aude, Henri Rancoule became international at the age of 22 and won the Five Nations Tournament five times (1955, 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1962) in six participations.

He wore a total of 27 times the jersey of the France team, for seven registered trials.

His son, Jean-Michel Rancoule, also a winger, was also crowned champion of France several times, with the Toulouse Stadium (1985, 1986 and 1989), of which he was then responsible for recruiting for more than 15 years before moving to accompany Guy Novès in the French team during the mandate of the former coach (2016-2017).
