Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates discussed in a phone call today with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the bilateral relations between the two countries and developments in the region and the world.

Minister Al-Miqdad affirmed the appreciation of the leadership and government of the Syrian Arab Republic for the positions of the Russian Federation related to the situation in Syria, for standing by it in various international organizations and for his stances against the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria and other countries because these measures violate international law and harm the people.

Minister Al-Miqdad referred to the recent escalation in Western statements, statements, and moves to target Syria, taking advantage of the so-called tenth anniversary of the war on Syria, as Al-Miqdad was surprised at the insistence of some Western countries to continue their policies that have proven failed in Syria, pointing to the negative effects that these policies have left on the Syrian people as well as on Their people and their countries.

In turn, Minister Lavrov renewed the wishes of President Vladimir Putin to President Bashar Al-Assad and Mrs. Asma Al-Assad for a speedy recovery from their infection with the Covid-19 virus and for them to be in good health.

Lavrov also presented Minister Al-Miqdad the results of his recent tour in the region and the consultations and talks he held during the visit on the various regional situations.

The two ministers discussed the preparations for holding the next round of the committee to discuss the constitution, as the views were in agreement regarding the committee’s work, under the leadership and ownership of Syria, without any external interference or timetables imposed on it from outside by any party.

The two ministers agreed to continue their consultations and coordination on various developments.
