Boxing is supposed to be practiced on the rings.
But on June 6, 2020, two fights took place in the open, on the public road in Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne), and in broad daylight.
Among the protagonists, Moughit El Moutaouakil, nicknamed "Guito", middleweight boxing champion and internationally ranked, from the city.
He appeared this Tuesday morning before the criminal court of Evry alongside his brother and facing three other men: Ameur and two brothers, Kevin and Cédric, for reciprocal violence.
Each accusing the other of being at the origin.

The first round will take place on June 6, 2020 at around 3:20 p.m., rue Jules-Vallès in the Nacelle district.
Two versions are opposed.
"I came to greet two young people from the neighborhood when Kevin came, asked me to leave and punched me in the jaw," said the boxer at the bar.
Then T. sprayed me with tear gas.
They beat me with a telescopic baton and threatened me with a knife.
I fled.
I did not put any blow.

It is then established that Moughit chased the two men in his car and deliberately crashed into their vehicle a few hundred yards away.
"He tried to spray us with gas but with the wind, it came back to him"
Kevin and his cousin T. (the latter is not prosecuted in this case) give a completely different version of the facts.
“I was on the chin-up bars with my cousin.
A young man said to me:
Moughit is coming, he's going to hit me, he wants money
.
Moughit walked up to him, grabbed him violently by the collar, saying:
You owe me money.
I intervened.
Moughit tried to punch me.
I dodged, I defended myself.
We exchanged blows.
He tried to spray us with gas but with the wind, it came back to him, ”said this public highway surveillance agent (ASVP).
The second round takes place an hour later in front of the Papeterie bar, still in Corbeil.

The scene is filmed by a surveillance camera.
The two men start by talking.
Then, "Cédric hits Moutalib and Ameur arrives from behind and punches him," describes the judge.
Moutalib does not respond and tries to protect himself.
He retreats under the violence of the blows and finds himself near his vehicle.
He takes a knife out of his car and threatens his attackers who retreat.
Then he goes to a cafe and picks up a bottle.
Cedric returns, with a knife.
Moutalib throws the bottle at him and takes flight.
"
"You dodge the blow of Moughit, boxing champion, but he does not dodge yours?"
For the prosecutor, on the first round, Moughit is guilty and he requires against him 8 months suspended sentence.
The two young people confirm the version of Kevin and T., saying that Moughit came to extort one of them and that he tried to hit the first.

"I don't understand why they are making these statements," Moughit wonders.
His lawyer, Me Thomas Maier, wonders: "You dodge the blow of Moughit, boxing champion, but he does not dodge yours?
“I also do combat sports,” Kevin answers.
And I'm a heavyweight.
"
"You say you took hits," continues Me Maier.
How do you explain that on your medical certificate, there is no sign of beating, you just sprained your ankle, and that my client has lots of bruises on his face?

Regarding the 2nd round, the prosecutor sticks to video surveillance, despite the denials of Cédric and Ameur who claim that they too have been beaten, and requires against them 8 and 6 months suspended sentence and an acquittal for Moutalib whom he considers to have been in self-defense.

How to explain this outburst of violence?
For Moughit, this is all about jealousy.
“The neighborhood is like a basket of crabs,” he says.
When you get out of it, the crabs are looking to grab you and pull you down.

For the boxer, his "attackers" also resented him because he had filed a handrail against them in 2014. They would have tried to extort him at the time when he was running a fast food restaurant.

Before the hearing, he also mentioned differences with Machiré Gassama, former director of youth and sport for the city of Corbeil-Essonnes, who knows the accused.
"Guito" had testified against Machiré Gassama in a case of violence exercised by the latter against the director general of city services.
Moughit is also the brother-in-law of boxer Fatah Hou, disabled for life after being the victim, in 2014, of an assassination attempt. Machiré Gassama is close to the shooter, Younès Bounouara, who had been sentenced to fifteen years of criminal imprisonment, against a backdrop of denunciation of the vote-buying system at the time of Serge Dassault. File in which Machiré Gassama was sentenced. The latter appealed, and disputes any involvement in the case tried on Tuesday. The judgment was reserved for March 23.
