The branch of the General Company for Construction and Development in Hama has started maintenance work on the sub-irrigation channels within the main irrigation network in Homs - Hama, according to a contract signed with the Directorate of Water Resources in the governorate with a value of LBP 286 million.
The engineer, Ghayath Ajamiah, the director of the company’s branch, told SANA’s correspondence today that the work includes the removal of the sub-irrigation channels within the area between the villages of the southern Hama countryside up to the Rastan area in the northern countryside of Homs with a length of 59 km and the implementation of rehabilitation, maintenance and cladding works for concrete, especially as the ground slabs of these channels and their walls It was vandalized and smashed by the terrorists.
He indicated that rehabilitation work is currently focused on restoring the damaged tiles and walls to their previous state, with technical methods and methods and within the approved specifications to ensure a smooth flow of water without any wastage or loss.
Ajamiyeh pointed out that the project to rehabilitate the Homs-Hama canal and irrigation network is one of the important and vital projects, and its importance stems from the fact that it will irrigate agricultural lands in 15 villages in the southern countryside of the governorate with an area of 7 thousand hectares and enable farmers to invest their lands in an optimal manner, which contributes to increasing agricultural production and improving the standard of living.
