President Rivlin told Steinmeier during their meeting that Israel takes the prosecutor's decision in The Hague very seriously, saying that for Israel this is a scandalous decision.

The president thanked his counterpart for Germany's side with the State of Israel in the face of the court's decision and said: "The State of Israel is a strong, Jewish and democratic state, which also knows how to defend itself and investigate itself if necessary."

The President further added that the State of Israel will not accept the allegations against the exercise of its right and duty, to protect its citizens.

Referring to Iran, the president said it was acting out of "nuclear blackmail" to bring about further concessions and economic relief.

Rivlin added that Israel sees great importance in laying red lines for Iranian conduct that will prevent its continued nuclear intensification.

The President also addressed the Palestinian issue and said during the meeting that the Palestinian attempt to bring about a "plilization" of the conflict would lead to polarization between the parties and the continuation of the crisis.
