Britain announced today (Tuesday) that it will increase the potential of its nuclear warhead pool by the middle of the decade, as part of a sweeping change in the kingdom's foreign policy in the post - Brexit and most comprehensive era since the Cold War.

Its maximum number of battle heads will increase by 40%, from 180 battle heads set in a previous plan from 2010 to 260.

Presenting the new strategy, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Britain would focus on Asian and Pacific countries, such as Japan, India and Australia, which he said were the global "engine of growth".

In addition, the aircraft carrier "Elizabeth" is scheduled to arrive in the area.

Johnson added that after retiring from the EU, Britain needed to "re-learn the art" of competing with countries with "conflicting values" of its own.

However, the Conservative prime minister stressed Britain's commitment to the defense alliance with NATO and to maintaining peace and security in Europe, alongside maintaining relations with the United States, which are as important as the new policy definition. Johnson said Britain would do more to address the 'systematic challenge. "Which poses China, and has defined Russia as the most serious threat to Britain today.

The formulation of the "Integral Examination" document of the UK's foreign and defense policy takes a year, and it sets the UK's priorities by 2030. Across the one-page plan, the expansion of the nuclear pool is necessary due to the "changing security environment" since 2010. That Britain would not explicitly state the size of its arsenal to maintain "deliberate ambiguity" in the face of its enemies.

On the other hand, the plan promised that Britain would maintain "the minimum destructive force necessary to ensure that Britain's nuclear deterrence remains credible".

Britain, according to the document, faces threats from nuclear-armed countries, from countries that establish themselves as nuclear and from state-sponsored nuclear terrorism.

The kingdom is set to replace its current warlords with those that will be operationally capable for the life of four new nuclear submarines that will be ready for service early in the next decade.

The document said it was "likely" that terrorists would be able to carry out a chemical, biological or nuclear attack by 2030, and that Britain would set up a counter-terrorism center to improve its response to threats.

In addition, the government wants to see Britain become a "science and high-tech power" by the end of the current decade.

In addition, the government promised to reduce the cuts in aid to foreign countries "when the economic situation allows it," after criticizing its decision, which it said stemmed from the corona plague.
