Damascus-Sana
The Ministry of Health announced the start of distributing free of charge the drug Penicillamine 250 mg capsule to patients with Wilson's disease in its pharmacy in Najma Square in Damascus.
The ministry indicated in a statement that SANA received a copy of it today that it received the 250 mg penicillamine drug, which is dispensed free of charge according to a medical report proving the disease and the monthly need for the drug for each patient.
The Ministry pointed out that the package delivered to the patient or his family is sealed with the pharmacy seal to prevent misuse, and that the empty envelopes are returned to the pharmacy before receiving the new quantity, and the need of three months is disbursed to each patient according to a prescription issued by the specialist doctor and the medical report is renewed annually.
Wilson's disease is a rare inherited disease that causes copper to accumulate in the liver, brain and vital organs.
In its statement, the Ministry stated that the siege and unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria are still delaying the process of importing imported medicines and their failure to arrive on time.
