Karl-Erivan Haub has disappeared without a trace since spring 2018.

In all likelihood, the very wealthy entrepreneur of the Tengelmann trading group will soon be declared dead.

Cologne - As part of the estate administration of Tengelmann managing director Karl-Erivan Haub, who disappeared in 2018, a significant decision is imminent for those who remained: The Cologne District Court issued an application by the wife and children of the missing billionaire, his brother Christian Wilhelm Haub and two family businesses so-called death declaration procedure.

Karl-Erivan Haub: The missing Tengelmann boss could soon be declared dead

As a court spokeswoman explained, the Tengelmann boss, who has been missing for three years, could be declared dead in May 2021.

Karl-Erivan Haub is

requested

in a list in the publications

Bundesanzeiger

and

Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger

to inform about his whereabouts by May 12th.

Otherwise the entrepreneur could be declared dead.

In addition, all persons who have any knowledge or information about the whereabouts are requested to report to the local court by this date.

If new findings are received by then, these will be checked as part of an official investigation.

Karl-Erivan Haub, one of the richest Germans, set out on a ski tour alone in the Swiss Alps on April 7, 2018 and never returned.

The family assumes that he had a fatal accident on the Klein Matterhorn near Zermatt.

Speculations recently sprouted up that Tengelmann managing director Karl-Erivan Haub, who disappeared in 2018, may have fled to Russia, whereby the domestic secret service may have played a role.

Tengelmann boss: Haub's declaration of death could cost heirs millions

After the disappearance of Karl-Erivan Haub, who was preparing for a grueling competition on the fateful mountain tour at the time, a family quarrel smoldered.

It's about the redistribution of power in the trading company.

With the application for a declaration of death, the pressure increased on Katrin Haub and her children to sell shares from the Tengelmann empire.

After all, in this case the descendants would have to be prepared for high inheritance tax payments.

We are talking about a three-digit million amount.

But in the meantime, the estranged family lines have evidently come closer together: Christian Haub recently told

Wirtschaftswoche

that it would be of no use to “pour oil on the fire”.

That is why it was agreed that in future they would no longer want to speak publicly about issues of a private nature in order to advance the process of unification.

The younger brother Christian Haub, who is now managing director, allegedly offered his sister-in-law 1.1 billion euros for the company's shares.
