He certainly longs to settle into a position where he will serve as an actor in one of the only two roles in a play known as "Conflict."
Lapid, in our opinion, has good reasons to concede to the initiative of the confrontation.
This was also not ruled out by Netanyahu.
If a confrontation is agreed upon, he will find that an experienced prime minister like Netanyahu will recognize Lapid as a weighty opponent to contend with.
Lapid's status will only get stronger, because dealing with the conflict will immediately add him to the major leagues.
And was it that Lapid would lose the confrontation, if it took place?
Nothing will happen.
A loss in a confrontation with Netanyahu is only an expected result.
Because who would have guessed that Lapid has a strong chance of defeating Netanyahu, the speech wizard.
After all, Netanyahu has already clashed with presidents and people in power.

Netanyahu also sometimes suffers from the use he makes of words that are considered inappropriate.
Even his sincere attempts to joke in front of a political opponent and in front of the TV cameras - do not always go well.
Who will forget?

One unsuccessful joke from his mouth, may entrust a dangerous weapon to the opponent.
So is the failure of easy language that is easy.
A minimal defect in Netanyahu's appearance will be inflated in the media party to enormous damage.
Contrary to what has been said so far, Prof. Tamar Herman, a senior researcher at the Israel Democracy Institute, believes that the culture of confrontation between two candidates has not yet been assimilated here.
In her opinion, the chances of placing a candidate for prime minister are also slim.
"After all, with us," Prof. Herman told us, "it is difficult to assume that placing one candidate against Netanyahu would be considered an appropriate format for a confrontation. Because with us, not one candidate declares himself a worthy candidate for prime minister against Netanyahu. According to Prof. Herman, it is doubtful whether a television channel would dare to crown a single candidate for prime minister on his behalf, while others also claim the crown.
And who will mark the right of Bennett, Lapid, Saar, candidates to face Netanyahu?
In our opinion, if Lapid and Netanyahu nevertheless agree on a confrontation, it is doubtful whether he will find a television channel that will give up a share in the confrontation: in hospitality, photography or directing.
This is the "big show in town," before the election.
If a confrontation is agreed upon, then the winner will win a precious prize, and at a fateful time - the winner's party will win the addition of the votes of those who will be affected and supported by the winner at the ballot box.
