Between the deployment of vaccination programs against Covid-19, recovery plans and signs of strong industrial activity in China, demand for oil will rebound, predicts the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The oil industry is still facing "
a level of uncertainty never seen before,
" said the organization.
But after a marked decline in 2020, global demand should return to its pre-crisis level within two years.
And in five years, in 2026, global consumption will likely be up 4%, to 106 million barrels per day (mbd) compared to 2019.

The IEA, which campaigns for an energy transition mindful of climate issues, is worried not to see the peak in demand looming quickly.

As long as governments do not take bold measures to curb demand, we will not see a peak,
" lamented its director Fatih Birol on Wednesday.
