Hummus-Sana
The Cultural Center in Homs held a poetry festival in honor of the late poet “Abd al-Basit al-Sufi” from the city of Homs, who left poems emanating from love for the homeland and its sublime human causes.
And the poet “Ibrahim Al-Hashem” participated in the festival with a poem dedicated to the soul of the Sufi, who was tender-hearted, a Sufi thought and fought with his words tribulations, so his poetry flowed like a fragrant perfume in the land of the Levant and overflowed with melodies of giving.
The poet “Ghada Al-Youssef” inherited in her poem “The Wild” a group of great people like the Sufi who devoted themselves to serving human causes through their poetic or literary messages, leaving a beautiful and immortal imprint on our souls.
Ashjan al-Sufi converged with the sorrows of the poets “Ahmed Al-Hamad, Suad Muhammad, Maimouna Al-Ali, Talib Hamash, Ghassan Lafi Tohme, Mahmoud Ezz Al-Hassan and Qahtan Bayraktar” who followed his path in expressing life's tragedies in poetic compositions full of sensual images with a musical rhythm, the melancholy of the expected hope.
The poet “Farhan Al-Khatib” sang the beauty of the poems of the Sufi, whose memory will remain a green spike, congratulating Homs, which celebrates his memory.
As for the poet “Abbas Hayrouka,” he was proud of his poem in Levant, which will remain the birthplace of lights and creators such as the Sufi whose human tendency and sacrifices in defense of truth coincided with the generosity of the martyrs who did not spare their lives so that the homeland would remain free and resistant to enemies.
And the "Sufi poet" from Homs "1931 to 1960" carried the homeland in his poems. An Arabist tendency was to combine his poetry between the originality of classical poetry and modern poetry expressing the tragedy of loss. He has a collection of "rural verses" and his poems have been studied in many educational curricula.
