The Fire Department set up a mountain climbing rescue team in October 2016. There are currently 200 members who are stationed at fire stations near popular mountain activities.

In addition, a mountain climbing rescue support team was established, which is composed of instructors from the Fire and Ambulance College with rich experience in mountain climbing and rescue. The main function is to provide technical and strategic support to on-site commanders.

In response to the increasing number of mountain accidents in the Lantau Mountains in recent years, the Fire Services Department set up a seventh mountain climbing rescue team at the Tai O Fire Station in February this year.

In addition, the Security Bureau’s "Security One Station" and the AFCD’s "Country Fun Trip" mobile application both have a "Hiking Tracking" service. In the past 3 years, a total of 9 cases of missing persons in the mountains have been obtained through this program. .

AFCD staff will regularly patrol country parks and special areas. If violations are found, appropriate enforcement actions will be taken.

In response to the recent boom in outings, the AFCD has stepped up patrolling and law enforcement in popular outing locations, with a total of about 150 officers.
