Beirut-Sana

The Lebanese Army Command renewed its call to the protesters and demonstrators to move peacefully and not to do everything that would harm civil peace, after four people were injured in a shooting attack during protests against the deteriorating living conditions in Lebanon.

The National Media Agency quoted the army command as saying in a statement that patterns occurred this evening between a number of protesters in the Aisha Bakkar area in Beirut, which led to shooting and wounding four people, and they were subsequently transferred to hospitals for treatment, and immediately an army force intervened and proceeded to control the situation and restore it. Things return to normal and the shooters are pursued to arrest them.

Protesters cut the Al-Alam Al-Shaab road “Al-Naqoura”. Some protesters also tried to close the western lane of the Zouk Mosbeh highway in the eastern suburb of Beirut amid the deployment of army units. Protesters also gathered in the middle of the road at Elia Junction in Sidon to protest the insane rise in prices and the deteriorating economic conditions.

According to the Traffic Control Room of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces, the roads of Jedita Al Aali “Taalabaya” and Chtoura Square in the Bekaa are cut off.

At the same time, public car drivers cut off the four intersection lanes in Sidon with their cars to protest the high price of fuel, amid the deployment of the army.

Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and to demand the fight against corruption in the country.
