Today, the People's Assembly held its twenty-fourth session of the second ordinary session of the third legislative session, headed by Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Assembly.

At the beginning of the session, the Minister of State for People's Assembly Affairs, Eng. Maloul Al-Hussein, gave a presentation on the topics and procedures approved by the Council of Ministers in its previous session, while a number of members called for greater control over the markets to limit the rise in prices, especially commodities and basic materials, and tighten penalties against those manipulating citizens ’food and livelihood, calling To take exceptional economic decisions that contribute to improving the standard of living and service and increasing medical supplies and devices in hospitals and health centers.

After that, the parliament began discussing the draft law that includes “preventing people smuggling and protecting immigrants,” as it approved by majority the first and second articles thereof, in accordance with the amendments made by the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee in the parliament on the draft law.

The second article of the bill relates to the financial penalties and fines imposed on anyone who establishes, organizes, or manages an organized criminal group for the purposes of people smuggling, or assumes a role in it, or commits the crime of people smuggling.

According to the same article, a number of penalties and financial fines are imposed on anyone who prepares or manages a place to house the smuggled persons or assembles them, and whoever conceals one of the perpetrators or objects or funds obtained from any of the crimes stipulated in this law or deals in them or conceals or destroys any of the Crime milestones or tools.

The Council also referred the new draft law regulating “the creation of the Syrian Chambers of Industry and the Federation of Chambers of Industry,” as well as the draft law that includes “Creating a Fund to Support the Use of Renewable Energies and Raise Energy Efficiency” to the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee for discussion and preparation of the two necessary reports on them.

The session, which was attended by Justice Minister Ahmed Al-Sayed, rose to 11 am tomorrow, Thursday.
