The Heide-Volm is closing: The Heide family has been running the traditional restaurant at Planegger Bahnhof for 90 years.

The reason given is the corona pandemic.

Planegg -

"We have long hoped that we would not have to take this step," says the press release.

However, the "ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the duration of the second lockdown as well as the increasing number of corona cases in Germany and the associated lack of prospects" left the family with no choice when it came to an early opening.

Since November 2, catering establishments such as restaurants, cafés, bars and pubs have had to close again due to the corona.

The operation of the pub and beer garden will be discontinued.

After thanking him for “many years of loyalty”, Heides wrote: “We as a family take the time to reflect and reposition ourselves for the future.” Heides could not be reached yesterday.

Out for traditional restaurant decided: "The Heide-Volm was typical Planegg"

The decision in favor of Planegg's mayor, Hermann Nafziger, is not entirely surprising.

He had already heard rumors, he said when asked about Mercury.

"I think it is very sad.

The Heide-Volm was typical Planegg. “As a boy he went to the children's carnival there, as an adult he hardly missed a Spider Murphy Gang concert in the Heides ballroom.

Its demolition is in full swing.

The family would like to build a supermarket on the site with apartments above.

Because of the project, the municipal administration and Heides were in talks.

“They have been a bit tough lately,” says Nafziger.

After Heides said goodbye to the Oktoberfest and the Bräurosl tent last July and, due to the corona, had to spend most of the time in the bar and beer garden in the past twelve months, "I would have at least expected that they would push ahead with the construction project in order to open up a new business field." .

Nafziger hopes that the meeting will remain at the end of March.

Because of the ongoing corona lockdown: Out for the Heide-Volm in Planegg at the gates of Munich

Daniela Heide's great-grandfather Georg Heide, who took over the “Zum Volm” inn in 1931, turned it into the largest entertainment center on the outskirts of Munich.

The Heide-Volm was considered a carnival stronghold for decades.

In 1936 the management of the Bräurosl was added, one of the largest festival tents at the Munich Oktoberfest.

In 1971 grandfather Willy Heide took over the job of the landlord, and in 2002 Daniela Heide's parents Georg and Renate Heide.

In 2011 the family invested around 650,000 euros in a new kitchen for the Planegger Wirtschaft.

At that time Georg Heide spoke of an investment "for the next 25 years".

Heides already suspected last year that the corona epidemic would change everything.

They said goodbye to the Oktoberfest with a heavy heart, also to prevent a possible end for their traditional restaurant.

Now it turned out differently.

The Heide-Volm is not the first and certainly not the last restaurant that has to close its doors due to the pandemic.

Almost at the same time as the Heide family, the operator of "Jan's Bistro" in Ismaning announced the corona-related end of his restaurant.
