Significant political move in Turkey: Attorney General Bekir Şahin today (Wednesday) filed a petition in the Constitutional Court requesting the outlawing of the Democratic People's Party (HDP), the third largest in parliament.

"In their actions and statements, party members have sought to destroy the indivisible unity of our Turkish state and nation," prosecutor Shahin wrote in his petition.

In the past two years, the Turkish government has fired 50 of the 53 mayors of the Democratic People's Party, and more than 7,000 members of the miracle have been arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit terrorist organizations.

Beyond that, no less than 55 indictments have been filed against party members, who in turn deny allegations of ties to the Kurdish underground (PKK).

One of them, who is in a more serious situation, is Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, who today MPs have approved the abolition of his status.

In an exclusive interview with Israel Today about two and a half weeks ago, Gargerliolu, who was sentenced to two years and a month in prison on charges of "promoting propaganda in favor of a terrorist organization," claimed that I was sentenced because I provided solutions in the field of human rights promotion. "Mine do not serve the government, so it caused them to demonize my words. The court succumbed to pressure, its decision is political."

He added: "I do not think I did anything wrong, I stand by every word I say. They want to silence me. Erdogan is a centralized leader who, with each passing day, moves away from the justice system and democracy."
