Significant political move in Turkey: Attorney General Bekir Şahin today (Wednesday) filed a petition in the Constitutional Court requesting the outlawing of the Democratic People's Party (HDP), the third largest in parliament.
"In their actions and statements, party members have sought to destroy the indivisible unity of our Turkish state and nation," prosecutor Shahin wrote in his petition.
In the past two years, the Turkish government has fired 50 of the 53 mayors of the Democratic People's Party, and more than 7,000 members of the miracle have been arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit terrorist organizations.
